It is observed that several concrete slabs covering the storm drains along the streets in Vasco are missing thereby posing danger to the pedestrians, specially children and elderly persons. Such open drains dot the streets along the FL Gomes Road as well as the Swatantra Path, the two main roads in the port town. The concrete slabs are either broken or completely missing as seen in the photograph and these open gaps may not be visible in the night. A tragedy is waiting to happen whereby a pedestrian can fall in the open drain in which the rain-water is seen flowing with a lot of force. The authorities need to cover these open drains on a war-footing so as to prevent any untoward incident.
