VASCO: Goa First, a Vasco-based NGO demanded that the government rebuild the illegally destroyed dividers at National Highway 566 from Vales junction to Bogmalo junction at various places.
The NGO highlighted that the haphazard movement of vehicles from these openings will result in accidents.
The NGO had written to the Central Ministry of Roads and Transport over the illegal destruction of the dividers by an unknown person at NH 566 (old NH 17B) from Vales junction to Bogmalo junction at various places.
This unauthorised and unplanned opening of the dividers for traffic movement will make this highway more prone to fatal accidents.
The Ministry of Road and Transport had replied to the Mormugao Port Road Company Ltd which in return has asked M/s Arjunvaishnavi Infrastructure Development Company to submit its report on urgent basis.
Parshuram Sonurlekar, president of Goa First said, “It is shocking to see that no authorities are neither concerned about such a mess, which can take someone precious life.”
“Goa First has also complained to South Goa Collector and Superintendent of Police Traffic South Goa to book the culprits involved in this mess and kindly rebuild these destroyed dividers on immediate basis,” he added.
