I own a residential bungalow in the Journalists Housing Society at Porvorim that remains closed for long periods. Despite rarely visiting—perhaps once every six months—I receive water bills of ₹3,500 per month.
Initially, I paid ₹30,000 but lodged a complaint with the PWD, asking them to address this overbilling issue. Despite two complaints, there has been no resolution. My latest bill is ₹21,000, making it seem like I’m supplying water to all of Porvorim.
Meanwhile, in Sangolda, PWD water leaks from broken taps have been ongoing for months without intervention. Authorities must take immediate action to address
public grievances and stop burdening taxpayers with unjustifiable bills. The JE and AE concerned should investigate and resolve such cases promptly.
