It is after years that saplings have been planted along the Swatantra Path in Vasco. In the past several Ashoka trees had either uprooted or had been cut down as they were old and could prove dangerous to the general public.
While new saplings have now been planted here, they have no protection by way of tree-guards. These saplings are hence in danger of being devoured by the stray cattle.
It is pertinent to note during the Carnival float parade, which is a few days away, the entire street along the Swatantra Path gets crowded with people watching the floats. There is every possibility of these sapling getting trampled. The authorities need to protect these saplings by providing tree-guards if these saplings are to grow into trees over the years.
