Retaining wall built in Vasco

In the ‘Citizen Herald’ column of Herald dated July 11, 2016, I had highlighted the fact that a spot in Vasco near the El-Monte theatre was susceptible to a landslide in the article “Vasco Road Susceptible to Land Slide”.

Some kiosks were seen resting precariously on loose soil and laterite stones which presented imminent danger of a landslide. Incidentally the spot had experienced landslides in the past. The authorities concerned have taken heed of the report and built a retaining wall along the road (as seen in the photograph) which will prevent landslides in the future, specially, during the monsoon.
