The Ration Card is an old document, which was valid for all purposes, to apply for driving licence and even for passport. Off late Aadhaar Card is mandatory to be linked to the Ration Card. That is ok, but the question arises for collecting monthly ration.
It is required that the thumb impression should match with that on the Ration Card. Here difficulty arises with the old people whose fingers are worn out due to work etc. So also as age advances the whole physique of a person changes and finger prints can’t be an exception. The problem is that my finger prints don’t match with that on Aadhaar Card. Hence, I am denied the monthly ration.
On earlier occasion, the ration was issued to me with the consent of the chairman of the Cansaulim Society. All that I had to do is sign on the register. This month, I am told this cannot be done because of the instructions from the higher authorities.
In this circumstances, what the senior citizens can do, who have this problem.
I would request the higher authorities that senior citizens who have problems with finger print matching should be given concession and issue ration on signing on the register as before. Then again, the ration is issued from first of the month till 21st of the month thus putting the people into great inconvenience. Hence, this also requires a review.
