Railways has proposed to introduce measures to enhance the security measures of women travelling by train. Coaches reserved for women will now be placed in the centre of the trains instead of the rear end and will be painted in a different colour, to make these ‘Ladies Only’ coaches more identifiable. These are good steps as coaches at the end come under darkness when the train halts at the station. Wire meshes on the windows of these coaches must be installed which will have CCTV cameras as additional security measures.
