There are a lot of cases of sewage pollution into fields, water bodies etc. This pollution is caused by select commercial establishments and even faulty sewage treatment plants.
How difficult is it for the Environment Ministry and the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to keep a check on this massive pollution, in such a small State of Goa? I suspect a lot of corruption is involved, with GSPCB officials turning a blind eye to numerous complaints filed by Goans across the State.
The State government markets thousands of crores of development but can’t even take care of the basics. Also recently, the State government signed the ‘Save Soil’, a global movement launched by spiritual leader Sadhguru to address land degradation and advocate for healthy soil, but allowing the release of sewage into areas including large parts of agricultural land is a classic example of the massive hypocrisy of the State government.
