Speed-breakers are put up so that road-users reduce the speed of the vehicles which does prevent road-accidents. However if the speed-breakers are not properly painted they themselves can become the reason behind an accident. A couple of speed-breakers on the main road outside the KTC bus-stand at Vasco are badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. This is a very busy section of the road as numerous vehicles which either enter or leave the Port Town every day and night have to pass along this road. Then there also the buses that either enter or leave the KTC bus-stand as the entrance and the exit point of the bus-stand lead to this busy road. In the absence of the mandatory white stripes and the reflectors having come off (as seen in the photograph), it becomes very difficult to notice these twin speed-breakers. The authorities concerned need to paint these two speed-breakers on a war-footing before the onset of monsoon since an unwary two-wheeler rider could easily speed over these speed-breakers on a wet road which could lead to a road accident.
