Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Goan politicians have been stressing on maintaining cleanliness at different jurisdictions, the matter has remained neglected till date.
People carrying garbage/waste material on two-wheelers and dumping it along the roadsides and open areas have become a common phenomenon. In Ponda, garbage has been regularly dumped along the road leading from Farmagudi Circle towards Kadamba Bus Stand. The location seems to be another Sonsoddo, with the concerned authorities being totally unable to control this serious menace.
Garbage is also dumped along the road leading from Farmagudi towards Safa Masjid. Ultimately it turns unhygienic for the pedestrians and travellers proceeding along such locations.
The situation turns to be an eyesore, with the image of this important town getting spoilt due to unhealthy conditions existing along the roads.
Even in the adjoining villages, situation is no different. At Adpai Village, garbage is regularly dumped behind the Goa State Co-Operative Bank Ltd along the route leading towards the Adpai Jetty. Even at Queula, garbage is being noticed along the road, more so near Shree Betal Temple and also in the vicinity of Shree Shantadurga Temple.
It makes no difference even for the local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar, who proceeds through these locations from time to time.
I request the honourable Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to issue necessary instructions to the concerned authorities in and around Ponda to initiate favorable action in this regard on priority basis thereby assuring cleanliness at the respective jurisdictions.
Let us hope that prompt positive action would follow at once.
