As in other parts of the state, in Ponda too, stray dog menace reigns supreme at different locations. Stray dogs are noticed at Tisk and also in the vicinity of Sun Inn Hotel at Varkhandem. The menace is also noticed at the premises of KTC bus terminus. Commuters waiting for buses face great inconvenience and trouble. Similar is the case at the premises of municipal market. Public at large visiting here to make purchases is subjected to great risk and danger.
In case the dogs bite any person, then the concerned victim is likely to be confronted with adverse consequences. The situation is no different in the neighbouring villages like Quezal, Adpai and Durbhat. At Adpai, stray dogs are regularly noticed on the road adjacent to the Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd.
In order to assure safety to precious human lives it would be appropriate for the concerned authorities to initiate prompt favourable action in tackling this ever-growing menace before the existing situation turns from bad to worse.
Let us hope that the concerned authorities will do the needful in this serious matter at once without any further delay.
