The rain-water will in all probability wash the mud and the slush from the excavated areas onto the road. Now there are no trees to hold the mud together. The road from Cortalim junction to Sancoale has barren land on one side as seen in the photograph with the trees and mangroves having been cut down.
This road leading to Vasco has also been excavated on both sides. The presence of mud and slush on the road could lead to slippery and dangerous condition which may cause accidents as the vehicular drivers and specially, two-wheeler riders, can lose control of the vehicles. The authorities concerned need to take necessary remedial steps to prevent the mud and slush from washing onto the road which will obviously result in unsafe road conditions.
