Unwarranted pay parking at this juncture

The area opposite Garcia de Orta Garden which during the post Liberation era used to house the Càmara de Municipal de Goa building (which was demolished because it was unsafe), which later was the venue for church activities such as feast fairs, and kermess, and then became a site for “gaddas” to be parked very close to the church, has today turned into a parking place for dozens of Corporation of The City of Panjim (CCP) trucks.
As seen in the photographs this area which is popular amongst tourists both foreign and domestic is raising a stink due to the callous action of the CCP.
The area is close to the Mary Immaculate Conception Church, better known as Panjim Church, and this has turned the sanctity of this serene area into what could become a flies and fleas infested zone due to garbage residue on these parked trucks which could be a health hazard to the thousands of tourists who frequent this area near the Church Square.
This church celebrates a number of festive occasions and this week soon after the New Year, this parked area will give a bad signal to the public. The CCP must clear the truck-parking area at the Church Square immediately so as to restore the sanctity of this area close to the Panjim Church. The area of this CCP parking venue is nearly 80 mtrs x 25 mtrs (around 2,000 sqmtrs).
Coupled with the fact that nine city roads have been demarcated to be pay parking areas just recently by CCP, this is a bad start by the CCP to 2020. All Panjimites are aware of the condition of the city roads which are potholed and hazardous and very narrow. They are not fit to be made pay parking roads without proper maintenance until everything is corrected. The Mayor is embarking on measures that are going to be detrimental to the city areas, paying scant respect to the providing of civic amenities.
