VALPOI: There is no staff in Valpoi SBI branch, except the branch manager and three cashiers for the last one month.
Locals from Valpoi constituency are facing many problems in the State Bank of India, Valpoi Branch. The poor rural villagers are returning home without completing their work because of this scarcity of staff.
Locals are reportedly coming from long distances and are forced to stand in long queues for hours but are forced to return home without completing their work said one villager. The branch is filled with customers but there is no staff to attend to them for the past many days. The locals demand that the government take action to alleviate the sufferings of the villagers.
“For last few days, I am visiting the SBI branch Valpoi to submit my Laadli Laxmi form in the bank, but the person who is handling that work is not on his seat. However, the bank manager lies to us saying he is present. Believing in him we wait in a queue for hours but we are forced to return home without completing our work,” says Sharmila Gawas, a local woman who is expecting a child.
“I am visiting the SBI branch Valpoi for a new pass book but no staffer is there in the bank to issue it to me. This is my third visit to the bank for a new pass book. There is no staff in the Valpoi branch, besides the bank manager and three cashiers. We demand that the government to check this issue at the earliest and take action on those responsible for making the villagers suffer,” says Umesh Gaonkar, a local.
The bank’s branch manager refused to comment when Herald Team approached him.
