Several areas along the road atop the hill leading to Mormugao Harbour have become susceptible to landslides. One such area is near the El-Monte Cinema in Vasco.
Some kiosks are resting precariously on loose soil and laterite stones in the area. The spot had witnessed a landslide some years ago. Now, more areas appear to be in imminent danger of experiencing landslides during the monsoon. The spot being very close to the main road, a landslide could occur and thereby endanger the lives of pedestrians and road users. The loose laterite stones (seen in the photo) need to be fixed in order to prevent any eventuality.
