However, this timing is often being disobeyed and streetlights are switched off much later. At the junction adjacent to Saraswati temple at Daag in Ponda, streetlights are often on as late as 8am. On Sunday, June 14, streetlights at various locations in Ponda were noticed in working condition during the afternoon. To cite a few instances, streetlights in the vicinity of Maruti Temple at Talulem in Bandora were working at 1:55pm. Also, the ones adjacent to the Public Works Department at Daag at 2:20pm. Today, streetlights at ‘Dessai-Bhat’ in Adpai were switched off at 8:20am. All these instances throw light over the quantity of power supply that went to waste on these days. The higher officials at the Electricity Department in Ponda should take serious note of this matter and instruct the concerned persons accordingly.
