Stray cattle squatting on the roads is a common sight in the state, specially in the nights, when they almost bloack the road. This results in accidents where not only humans are injured and killed but also the bovine Perhaps due to paucity of space and confllict with humans they have opted to find solace in the solutudes of the beach.
And like humans these stray cattle too seek some relaxing time and fresh sea breeze and have found the beach a safer option. The result of this can be seen on the beaches, where stray cattle is fast becoming a common sight.
The cattle are often seen ambling along, mingling with the visitors to the beach, including tourists as seen at the Miramar beach in the photograph.
unfortunately these cattle create a nuisance on the beach and provides a bad image to tourism. and what’s more, besides cattle, even stray cattle, even stray dogs make their presence felt on the beaches which make it difficult for the children to run on the sand lest they be bitten by a rabid dog. It is not uncommon to see apack of dogs relaxing under a canoe or under a palm near the beach, causing concern among tourists and locals alike.
The authorities need to take necessary steps to keep the beaches free from stray cattle and specially, stray dogs.

This is a familiar scene on Goan beaches at dusk. The bulls meant for dhirio are taken out at sunset on beaches.
They are very dangerous to humans and if they get wild I don’t think the caretakers can control them. As dhirio are illegal, police must warn these men who take bulls out.
I am given to understand that a lot of Goans settled abroad own these bulls meant for dhirio and they pay for these bulls caretakers. If it is correct I would suggest these bull owners who are settled abroad to think other ways of providing employment to these youngsters rather than rearing bulls for dhirio.
