CM acting as ‘agent’, ‘PRO’ of off-shore casino lobby: Cong

PANJIM: The Congress party has accused Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar for acting as an “agent” and “PRO” of the off-shore casino lobby operating in the State, over his latest controversial submission that the termination of licences of the existing casinos will send a wrong signal to the probable investors desiring to invest in Goa.

“The recent statement of the Chief Minister makes it very clear that he is appointed as PRO and agent by the casino lobby. It is now a proven fact that BJP is funded by the casino lobby,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPC) spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar alleged Sunday evening.
Kawthankar reiterated the party’s demand that BJP fulfill its election promise to shift off-shore casinos out of River Mandovi. “Let’s not argue on the fact that it was Congress who granted permissions for off-shore casinos. Now it’s time for BJP to fulfill its promise they made to fool the people of Goa and gain votes,” he said.
A day after Congress assured to shift off-shore casinos out of River Mandovi if their candidate is voted in the Panjim by-election, the Chief Minister had said that this would backfire on the Congress. He said that shutting down off-shore casinos will have a major impact on investors who desire to invest in the State and on the State’s finances.
Congress also slammed the Chief Minister for his controversial remark on disability, wherein he had said on a public platform that ‘disabled people are a mistake of God’.
“This very comment of his (CM) proves how disabled his thoughts are,” Kawthankar said. “Nominating Laxmikant Parsekar as State Chief Minister was a biggest mistake of Manohar Parrikar,” he said.
Congress party has demanded a public apology from the Chief Minister.
