PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has assured assistance to the people intending to venture into any field or self-employment.
“Government is striving to make Fire and Emergency force well equipped by providing necessary equipments as and when required. It is the responsibility of government staff from top to bottom to help those who intend to venture into any field. Mere inviting investors are not enough. They (investors) should be provided with requisite facilities and necessary support,” he said while speaking at a function to distribute commendation certificates to 99 personnel of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in the city on Friday.
“Duties of a person engaged in emergency services do not stop while being on leave or holidays. He has to shoulder the responsibility whenever he comes across to any emergency,” the Chief Minister further said while urging government servants to be empathetic towards the needs of the people particularly at the time of prevailing crisis.
He congratulated the recipient of Commendation certificates and expressed that he expects Fire and Emergency Department will top in serving the society. Dr Sawant also appreciated the Director of the Department Ashok Menon for recognising the services rendered by various staff in his department.
“The department during last flood situation in Bardez and Pernem Taluka have done remarkable job honouring them will cast onus and responsibilities,” he said.
The ceremony was organised by taking utmost care in view of the pandemic as social distancing norms were strictly adhered to with limited number of invitees.
The practice of awarding commendation certificates to the Administrative and Operational Staff is aimed at maintaining exceptional standard of performance, morale, and to encourage sustained good performance etc.
“The personnel have been awarded commendation certificates in various categories in recognition of their services such as major rescue operation during flood, in August 2019, exemplary performance in the field of fire fighting and rescue operation, for extreme devotion to duties, outstanding performance and for best vehicle maintenance etc,” Menon said during his address.
