CM, Gov, Archbishop extend New Year greetings

PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo and Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao have extended warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of New Year 2014.

PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo and Archbishop  Filipe Neri Ferrao have extended warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of New Year 2014.
In his message Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said, “The dawn of the New Year can only be fulfilled by working together with resolve towards building a strong united and prosperous State. On the eve of the New Year, I want to assure the people of Goa that my Government and I will work with renewed resolve for the welfare of our State and the people, he adds.
Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo said, the year just gone-by witnessed many notable achievements and important events in the State.  Goa joined the national mainstream in celebrating various national occasions besides important State occasions with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm.  
On the developmental front, Goa continued to strive to achieve a higher rate of progress.  On the social front, while the State continued to maintain overall peace and harmony.  
Archbishop  Filipe Neri Ferrao said “While formulating my New Year wishes to everyone who reads this message, I am reminded of Psalm 85, verses 10-11: “Kindness and truth shall meet, justice and peace shall kiss. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and justice shall look down from heaven.”  
At the beginning of 2014, while wishing a Happy New Year to everyone, I pray and appeal to every family to live those values inherited from the genuine and rich human and Christian traditions.
Meanwhile, CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado says as we herald the dawn of a New Year, let us commit ourselves to making 2014 the year wherein every Goan strives to make Goa the jewel in the crown of great India.
 and the foremost State in the nation. Let the New Year bring joy, prosperity and meaning to the lives of each and every soul in this unique state.
