PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar declared that the government is looking at the possibilities of including Ponda taluka in South Goa district.

Also, Ponda and Mapusa towns could be designated as sub-district headquarters, headed by an additional collector to improve the quality of administration, he opined.
Ponda Assembly is presently part of South Goa Constituency for the Lok Sabha elections as part of the 20 South Goa segments.
But as a taluka, it falls in North Goa district. It is home to various industries and is known as the cultural capital of Goa.
