CM hits out at Lobo over his claim of forming Cong govt

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant took the opportunity on Friday to hit out at the new Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo over his claim to form Congress government in Goa in 10-15 months. 

Lobo, in an interview with a national news group said that Goa will get a new government formed by the Congress in next 10-15 months. Lobo was appointed to the post replacing Kamat, in a decision by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Thursday. 

The national party, that contested all the 40 seats with a target of 22-plus seats in the just concluded 2022 Assembly elections, has for the first time in the Goa scored a hat-trick.

The Chief Minister added that while the BJP has formed the government for the third time in a row, its responsibilities have increased. “We will complete the five-year term in 2027 and we have to start the work from the first day,” he said rubbishing claims by the Opposition that division of votes went in favour of BJP. 

He further cited works carried out by the double engine sarkar and the tireless work by the karyakartas for their victory. 

Meanwhile, the BJP has already commenced post-poll analyses. The party experts are analysing on BJP’s loss in certain constituencies, reasons for the defeat, which also includes neck and neck fight, etc.
