CM inaugurates Marcel bus stand

Announces yearlong Statehood programmes with focus on ‘Clean Goa, Green Goa’

PONDA: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday inaugurated the multipurpose Marcel KTC bus stand built at a cost of Rs 15 crore. 
The project comprises of bus stand, thirty shops, several government offices, panchayat office, library, electricity office, police out post, market for fish and vegetable vendors, multipurpose 500 seating capacity AC hall besides many other facilities for people.
On the occasion, the chief minister said that he would work for progress of the State by keeping common man at the centre of development. “Goa Statehood day will be celebrated with yearlong programmes on Clean Goa, Green Goa. The garbage disposal is a major problem in the State and all the panchayats should support the government to solve it,” he said. 
He said this multipurpose KTC bus stand became a reality through vision of former chief minister Manohar Parrikar and it would also benefit interstate buses. 
He appreciated local MLA and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude for his dedicated work for Priol. The chief minister also declared that all the developmental works that were halted and pending by his political rival would now be completed.
On the occasion, Gaude said that the project was complete in 2017 but there were lot of obstacles by his rivals for inaugurating the KTC bus stand. “But as soon as Sawant took over the reins of the government, within seven days he managed to get all NOCs and sanads of land for the project,” he said. 
Others present on the occasion were local Sarpanch Sajyoth Khadpakar, Bethki Khandola Sarpanch Dileep Naik, Volvoi Sarpanch Digambar Tari and KTC officials Derik Pereira, Nikhil Desai and Rahul Deshpande.
