CM lacks guts to face up to threats to Goa: Vijai

Alleges BJP is spreading communalism in State to introduce ‘Yogi Model’

MARGAO: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Saturday challenged the Chief Minister to state whether he has any guts to stop the “Yogi Model” of governance from entering into Goa.

He warned that there will be no beef on the Goan platter this Christmas as Karnataka has banned all slaughter of livestock.

Vijai said, “If the supply is stopped from Karnataka, then there won’t be any beef on the Goan platter this Christmas. There will be no beef for those who have it as their staple diet. An attempt is being made to create a divide between the communities.”

“There is a shrewd and mischievous intent behind the timing for this madness. Before the Old Goa feast, the agenda was inclusion of Old Goa in Greater Panaji Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA), and now this beef ban just before the Christmas,” said Vijai.

“I ask this question to Nilesh Cabral. Will there be beef on the platter of Goans this Christmas? Also tell your version of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. How do you find only one minority community candidate in 40 candidates of Zilla Parishad to represent 23 per cent of the population of Goa,” lambasted Vijai.

“The people who talk of preservation of Hindu culture that considers trees as Gods are now out to cut tens and thousands of trees,” criticised Vijai.

“Does the Chief Minister have the guts to stop ‘Yogi Model’ from entering Goa? We stopped the then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar from even responding to such divisive plans; he was warned by Goa Forward Party during the Sadhvi Saraswati episode,” said Vijai.

He alleged that the BJP is spreading communalism in Goa to introduce “Yogi Model” here.

“We were removed from the government because we opposed it. We became untouchables the day we started questioning their communal and divisive agenda. The Government should give answers before the Zilla Parishad elections,” said Vijai.
