PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday ‘finally’ announced that government had finalized the candidate for the post of Goa Lokayukta, without disclosing the name.
“We have finalized the Lokayukta and the name will be announced soon. We are just waiting for some official paper work,” he said.
Parrikar said that government was waiting for the best candidate and had managed to get him. “He is a person of great caliber, who has delivered some famous judgments. Once his name is announced everyone will be shocked,” he said.
In its election manifesto, the BJP had promised to appoint a Goa Lokayukta within 100 days of coming to power.
The Government has already cleared 36 posts for the office of the Goa Lokayukta and decided to locate it at the old Ribandar hospital complex.
