CM: New Zuari bridge to be ready in three years

PANJIM: The ambitious Rs 2700 crore second Zuari Bridge, the lifeline connecting the North with the South, will be completed in the next three years, with the foundation stone for the project being laid on January 1, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said on Thursday.

Addressing the media, Parsekar said the tender for the Zuari Bridge, along with both side access roads, will be opened on January 14, with the entire project slated for completion in the next three years.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for Rs 3482 crore infrastructure projects on Friday, which includes Rs 2700 crore Zuari bridge, Rs 298 crore Canacona bypass with three bridges, Rs 297 crore Margao bypass and Rs 187 crore Verna missing link. 
“These are the biggest infrastructure projects that government is taking up,” Parsekar said. The government has already issued work orders for the three projects. 
Apart from this, the Chief Minister said the government has also proposed Rs 1200 crore project, wherein the entire coastal highways would be developed. “We are also undertaking four-laning of National Highway 4 from Patradevi to Pollem,” he said adding that the Union Ministry has already granted in-principle approval to the project.
