PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Thursday told the Goa Assembly that the government does not have any plans to start classes in offline mode till such time that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issues specific guidelines. Till then classes will continue in online mode, he added.
Sawant was replying to a calling attention notice tabled by Opposition members, who stated that there is fear and anxiety in the minds of students and parents across Goa for non-availability of infrastructure for internet connectivity to attend online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic and
urged the government to resolve the connectivity issue.
The CM said that the government has requested the Centre to reduce the gap between two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for teachers and non-teaching staff. Once teachers and staff are fully vaccinated then it will help to decide when to commence classes physically.
