VASCO: Acting on orders from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, State authorities on Wednesday shut down a hotel booking counter which was accused of offering taxi services at Dabolim airport.
The decision was taken after the issue was raised in the assembly session on Wednesday and the chief minister decided to take strict action against the agency which had been operating a hotel booking counter at the arrival lounge of the domestic and international terminal at Dabolim airport.
According to sources at Dabolim airport, local taxi operators were aggrieved that the hotel booking counter was allegedly operating taxi services and they brought it to the notice of Parrikar.
Acting on their complaint, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar directed the RTO director to stop the agency from operating their taxi services at the airport. However, when the police directed the agency officials to stop their operations, they refused to do so. Then, senior police officials were alerted and they in turn reported the matter to the chief minister, who then called the Director of Transport and directed him to ask the RTO officials at Vasco to stop the agency from operating its counter at the airport.
Acting on the direction of the RTO director, Vasco RTO Assistant Director Abhay Naik along with his officers and Daboilm PI Naulesh Desai met Airport Director M Suresh and urged him to stop the agency’s counter at the airport.
