CALANGUTE: Stating that the Calangute constituency has become the prestigious constituency for him, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said he would work overtime, if need be, with Calangute MLA Michael Lobo to see that BJP scores a point in Calangute.
Parrikar was addressing BJP workers at booth level meeting of the party at the residence of Lobo.
“The Calangute constituency has become the prestigious constituency for me and I will work overtime, if need be, with Lobo, also making available Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza to see that BJP scores a point in Calangute,” said Parrikar.
“Everyone should work very hard by explaining to people about developmental works and schemes of the State government without being scared or frightened of Joseph Sequeira who is destined to ruins in the Congress party,” stated Parrikar.
Speaking about Congress candidate Ravi Naik, Parrikar said the party had no candidate from North Goa and had to rely on a South Goa person. “The Congress party has been terming the BJP a communal party, but we have more Catholic MLAs as compared to the Congress,” he said.
Hitting out at Aam Admi Party for posing 12 questions to him, Parrikar said: “I’m asking the party only one question as to why they gave up Delhi Raaj after only 49 days. It is easy to say but difficult to perform, but our government in Goa is performing despite shortcomings.”
Lobo said the State BJP government has fulfilled most of the promises made in its election manifesto for Calangute which includes beach cleaning, wider roads, sewerage network, etc.
“The alliance of Agnelo Fernandes and Joseph Sequeira will not be able to stop BJP from taking lead in Calangute as people are with the party. I urge you to work for the victory of Shripad Naik as he will be a minister in Modi-led government which can lead to further development of coastal villages of Calangute,” Lobo.
