Says prove bribery charges or apologise

CALANGUTE: Furious with organisers of the Sunburn music festival following allegations of bribery, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has challenged the organisers to either prove the allegations against his government or tender an apology, failing which he has threatened to ignore the file on the mega-music festival in December.
He was responding to queries by reporters during his visit to Candolim in the presence of Calangute legislator Michael Lobo.
“I have been hearing of wild allegations that the organizers paid huge money as bribes, gave tickets and passes to elected representatives, etc, besides other various allegations,” said Parrikar.
“I want the organisers to prove their allegations or tender an unconditional apology, otherwise I will not look into the file of the event. Only after they prove their allegations or tender an unconditional apology, I will look into the file and process the application on merit,” added Parrikar.
“The organizers also failed to implement the ‘No Smoking’ rule at the venue, due to which Goa Police booked 800-odd people at the venue. Other aspects like security and parking also need a serious re-look,” he said.
Meanwhile, Parrikar on Monday inaugurated the road work at Camottim Vaddo, Candolim.
