CM to hold HPCC meeting to solve Sonsoddo issue

MMC delegation submits letter of guidance and support to Margao, Fatorda MLAs

MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant assured to hold a High Power Coordination Committee (HPCC) meeting soon to resolve the issue of the Sonsoddo treatment plant after a delegation of MMC Councillors lead by the acting chairperson Tito Cardozo along with Chief Officer,  Ajit Panchwadkar and other councillor’s submitted a letter to the chief minister to apprise him of the developments following the withdrawal of arbitration application by Fomento. 

Minister of Environment Nilesh Cabral was also present.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the meeting of HPCC will be convened very soon and the handling of sonsoddo garbage treatment plant will be resolved soon without any further delay.

The delegation expressed hopes of positive outcome after the involvement of the Chief Minister in the matter. 

Earlier in the day the delegation of Councillors also submitted a letter of request for guidance and support on the issue to the Margao MLA and Leader of Opposition  Digambar Kamat who ensured that he will assist the council to find a solution to the garbage issue in the town. A similar letter was also submitted to Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai.

The councillor’s also submitted a letter to Director Urban Development, Member Secretary of Pollution Control Board, Managing Director of Goa Waste Management Corporation, Chief Secretary, Urban Development Minister, as well as the Minister for Solid Waste Management and Environment Minister. 

It may be recalled that the MMC had resolved of writing to the responsible authorities asking for help for handling of the Sonsoddo plant and garbage management of the town.
