CM to play vital role
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, DEC 3
Will Chief Minister Digambar Kamat stand by the district authorities in the face of strong demands made by the New Market Traders to revoke the notification of no parking for four-wheelers on the pick-up stand road?
This question has come to the fore in official circles as the Chief Minister had fully supported the decision of the Margao RTA to ban entry of short distance route buses heading to Davorlim, Housing Board, from taking a round of the Municipal garden to ease traffic congestion.
But, officials now keep their fingers crossed over the demand of the New Market traders as most of the Association members are not only the close supporters of the Chief Minister, but his voters as well.
While the authorities maintain that no parking for four-wheelers along the pick-up stand road between Royal Foods and Borkar stores would help ease traffic congestion, they seem to be waiting for further instructions from the political leadership following strong protests by the New Market traders.
