PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the House that he would resign if any information he submitted on the land connected with his son was incorrect. “Whoever raises my son’s issue once again, I will expose you (pointing at opposition benches),” he warned.
The chief minister touched on a wide variety of topics including clamp down on drunken driving, the Vasco rape case, action taken against erring police personnel, the issue about land allotted to his son and the case against GVP legislator Francisco Mickky Pacheco while speaking during his reply to demand for grants on Home Wednesday.
He also promised strict action against those policemen who do not register cases in women related crimes.
The chief minister claimed that Pacheco was ‘fixed’ in the case on the death of Nadia Torrado, and opined that the case was not ‘strong enough’. Replying during the demands, Parrikar said that the case would be expedited following report from CFSL, which are studying the CD’ recovered during the investigation.
“There is no ‘dhum’ in the case. You (Pacheco) were fixed in the case,” Parrikar said.
He also promised to clamp down on drunken driving, saying, “I will clamp down on drunken driving.” “They may take my name or the MLA’s name… if they are drunk they should be caught. He may be anybody.”
The chief minister also said that he would ensure that those places that serve liquor keep taxis outside their establishment.
On the Vasco rape case currently being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar alleged in the House on Wednesday that the case was given political colour.
