Former councillor Devendra Dessai condemned the duo’s attitude and appealed to the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) to take cognizance of the issue. The councillors alleged that Mascarenhas and Naik were not taking them into confidence and that all development activities of the council had come to a halt. They claimed such an incident had never happened in the last four-and-a-half years. They said Mascarenhas was acting like a dictator and urged the DMA to disqualify him for neglecting to hold the council meetings.
It is learned that Mascarenhas has not called any meeting since a no-confidence motion was moved against him by BJP councillors.
