MARGAO: Congress’ Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has requested the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene in the matter with regards to Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) of Goan seafarers, who he claimed are allegedly misguided by unscrupulous agents.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) has requested his intervention to help many Goan seafarers, who have been misguided by unauthorised agents who provide them with fake documentation to apply for Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate .
“As a result of this anomaly, the Director General Shipping, Mumbai has barred them from applying for CDC for next five years. The said ban will lead to unemployment in Goa and the families of these seamen will be deprived of their living,” Reginaldo said.
“I urge you to request the Director General of Shipping to pardon these seamen or to reduce the ban imposed on them with a simple fine so that they can join their duty as they are victims of unscrupulous agents,” Reginaldo added.
