PANJIM: The District Collectors have issued orders invoking Section 144 following the announcement made by the Chief Minister late Saturday evening about the State level curfew being extended again, until June 21 with some new relaxations.
The orders says, the curfew had been imposed due to the number of COVID-19 cases being witnessed in Goa and other parts of the country, and that the situation might further aggravate if public gatherings and active interactions are permitted.
They added that there are sufficient grounds, considering the prevailing situation that such restrictions and measures are still required and are being continued under section 144 to prevent the further spread of the disease.
The Collectors then listed the activities/establishments/facilities/events that shall be prohibited or restricted from June 14, 7 am to June 21, 7 am.
As per the new order, shops selling medicines/ drugs and related medicines are allowed to be open. This and shops (including municipal/panchayat markets) can be open from 7 am to 3 pm (home delivery of these items, except liqour, will be allowed any time).
Gathering of five or more persons at public places, except for official functions or with permission from DM/SDM, is prohibited including social/political /sports/academic/cultural functions and other congregations (except for events with the permission of the government). However, a marriage function with 50 people or less is permitted with the approval of DM/SDM, cremation with 20 people or less is permitted.
During the period inter-state travel is also prohibited except for those carrying COVID negative certificate which must be issued 72 hours before travel.. Those entering Goa for medical purpose and goods carriers will be permitted to have two drivers and one helper only. However, the police or the other authorities will scan such persons with the thermal guns to see whether they display any symptoms and if they display any symptoms, then the police or other authorities have the authority to deny access to such persons in the State. Use of buses is also prohibited except for people going for duty and medical emergencies, with a maximum capacity of 50 %.
The following establishments shall remain closed: casinos; bars; restaurants; (except for providing home delivery/takeaways); shops (except for those allowed to be open); sports complex /auditoriums/community halls or similar places; river cruises/water parks/entertainment parks; gyms/spa /massage parlours/saloon; cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment zones within shopping malls; swimming pools; religious places for the public (custodians allowed to carry out regular activities); weekly fish market; and schools, colleges, educational & coaching institutions for students (however, examinations of college students and holding competitive examinations will be permitted with the approval of the government).
