MARGAO: Govansh Raksha Abhiyan, Goa on Thursday submitted a memorandum to South Goa District Collector requesting him to stop bullfights and illegal slaughterhouses in South Goa.
In a memorandum, the Abhiyan requested the Collector to take strict legal action against bullfights organised at various places in South Goa.
“Recently bullfights were organised in Colva Police Station jurisdiction and bulls got heavily injured. Bullfights are arranged for money and a lot of betting takes place on winning bulls in various parts of South Goa such as Colva and Benaulim,” GRA complained.
“Goa Police failed to stop cruelty to animals, which results in cattle deaths due to police negligence. Animal lovers and Gaupremi have lost faith in police officers, who failed in implementing the High Court order in Goa,” said GRA’s Hanumant Parab.
