MARGAO: Employees of South Goa district Collectorate on Tuesday resumed their agitation in support of the immediate transfer of district Collector N D Agrawal.
After suspending the agitation in the wake of assurances given by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza that the government would work out a solution by November 11, agitated employees were back in front of the main gate of the district Collectorate to demand Agrawal’s transfer.
The employees maintained that the government has failed to honour its promise of transferring Agrawal from the district collectorate before November 11, adding that they will now continue with the agitation till the transfer of the Collector.
Agrawal is presently on leave and is expected to resume office on next week on November 18. Additional Collector, South Venancio Furtado is presently holding additional charge as acting district Collector.
Goa Government Employees Association president M L Shetkar and other office bearers of the Association, including Nazareth, were present along with the agitating employees. Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, who made a brief appearance at the venue, reiterated his support for the ongoing agitation till the transfer of the district Collector.
“We had suspended the agitation since the government had promised to fulfill our demand. Since the government did nothing during the time when we suspended the agitation, we will agitate till the Collector is transferred from South Goa”, remarked a senior Collectorate employee.
