COLLEM: Two Indian Chevrotains (mouse deer) were killed at the Bhagvan Mahavir wildlife sanctuary at Mollem on Saturday morning and a 63-year-old man from Collem has been arrested in this connection.
According to reports, the two mouse deers – which are listed in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act – were killed in the wildlife sanctuary on Saturday morning.
On receiving news that the two mouse deers had been killed, Mollem RFO Pranay Naik and a team went to the site and arrested Gokuldas B Naik. A gun was also seized from the accused.
Forest department officials later produced Gokuldas B Naik before the Sanguem JMFC and the accused has been remanded to three days custody for further investigations.
