MARGAO: In a letter written by the Colva village panchayat to the Colva Police inspector, the panchayat requested that action be initiated against a logistics company operating in a residential area and causing hardships to the residents.
In the letter, the panchayat pointed out that members of the affected residential society had complained to their office about the go down of the logistics company causing a safety hazard and nuisance to them.
Upon receiving the complaint, the panchayat conducted a site inspection and found that the business activity of delivery and distribution from the go down was in operation in the building of that society, occupying four shops.
Following this discovery, the panchayat issued a stop-work notice to the proprietor of the company, who was given four days to halt the business. The panchayat further added that the company had then submitted a letter to its office stating that they had stopped the activity.
However, the panchayat added that the complainant had informed its office that the business activity is still ongoing despite the stop-work notice.
Whereas, the complainant informed the undersigned that the business activity is still going on despite the stop notice.
Attaching all the relevant documents and the complainants’ copy, the panchayat asked the police to ensure that the business activity is shut down on the grounds that the panchayat had not granted the company any permission for the business.
