MARGAO: Residents of Baidem in Ward 3 of Colva had to go without power supply for well over 24 hours since Tuesday. Power was restored only on Wednesday evening.
The locality witnessed power disruption at around 3 pm on Tuesday following a major fault at the Benaulim sub-station. The residents had to go without power last night as the power department managed to spot the fault in the transformer at around 11 pm last night.
Given that the transformer developed a technical snag and required replacement, a requisition was sent to Margao to dispatch a new transformer to replace the faulty one. The new transformer is believed to have come at the spot only around 3.30 pm, but the installation was delayed for want of a crane.
