Colvale locals oppose mega projects in village

TIVIM: Residents of Colvale demanded that no licence should be issued to the builders to construct buildings for business purpose and mega projects in the village.
The residents made the demand at the recent gram sabha and said any proposal of this type should be put before the gram sabha for approval and the new housing boards should make its own arrangements for garbage and panchayat should not take responsibility of it.
A resolution was taken to revoke water connection permission to a multi-storey building at Naka, as there was not enough water supply for the residents of Colvale.
The villagers said the depth of the underground gas pipeline passing through Colvale to a factory should be checked, as there are telephone cables and water pipeline. The villagers fear digging by telephone department and PWD may accidentally damage the gas pipeline.
A 12-member village ward welfare committee was formed along with supervising committee.
