Come clean on Western bypass road, Mickky tells Dhavalikar

MARGAO: Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has urged PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to take the locals into confidence and come clean on the Western bypass project that has raised apprehension across Salcete.

He demanded that the PWD demarcate the acquired land in Nuvem before taking up land filling, adding that he had a meeting with the local PWD officials on the demarcation aspect, but there was no change in the ground reality.
Pacheco also sought to know how the de-silting work could immediately commence along the river given that people had built bandharas by spending huge amounts of money.
He added that he would not allow the resumption of work on the bypass till the River Sal was desilted first and stated that the PWD had earlier promised around four culverts at Gorvetti in Nuvem. He added that he wanted to check the feasibility report since it was based on a consultant report, which could be manipulated, like in the case of the Dona Paula-Vasco sea link.
Meanwhile, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai pointed out that it was clear that the PWD had not carried out proper studies on the flood pattern.
Additionally, Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado, while referring to a recent meeting with the PWD Minister, stated that the PWD had agreed to his demand for additional culverts along the Salpem lake, besides a flyover at Navelim and desilting of River Sal.
