PANJIM: A special inspection team has been constituted to undertake inspection of mining leases on March 16 to ascertain that the Supreme Court order is complied with.
During a recent meeting, Mines Secretary Daulat Hawaldar directed Department of Mines to ensure that inspections are carried out on March 16 and a report prepared confirming that all extraction activities in the State have stopped.
The department has formed a team of technical staff comprising Officers of Indian Bureau of Mines, Directorate of Mines Safety, Forest Department, MoEFCC, and Goa State Pollution Control Board to inspect the mining leases. An inspection team of the department will monitor the leases till March 15 evening.
