PONDA: Commuters travelling on ferry boats on Rashole-Shiroda route have demanded restoration of the big ferry boat as they are facing hardships travelling in smaller boats.
According to the commuters, they have been facing hardships for over a month after one of the two big ferry boats on this route was shifted elsewhere, replaced by a smaller boat.
Milind Naik, a local said, “It has become difficult for employees, commuters and office goers to reach at their work place. He said many people from Savordem , Shiroda travel towards Margao, Nesai and other places as it is a shorter route. However, during rush hours, many aren’t able to reach in time for work as the small ferry boat is unable to accommodate many passengers.”
The situation becomes more acute whenever a four-wheeler boards the boat as many two-wheeler riders are unable to enter due to limited space.
