While the recent road work around the garden, especially the stretch in front of the old Collectorate building towards the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) building has created problems as the height of the road was elevated matching the height of the footpaths around the garden, there is no space for water to flow and this part, between the footpath and road, has been getting waterlogged.

Commuters and citizens have complained as the accumulated water spills over onto the road and even the stretch of road in front of the MMC building gets water-logged instantly when it rains, much to the inconvenience of those visiting the MMC or passing that side.

The MMC has also come under criticism for its delay in completing pre-monsoon works and the fact that many areas in its jurisdiction get water-logged after a heavy downpour.
