MARGAO: Even as the Cuncolim police have failed to achieve a breakthrough in the Paddi firing incident, the Goa Dhangar Samaj has demanded justice for Babu Lambor, who was injured in the firing at Paddi village last Sunday.
Vice-president of Goa Dhangar Samaj Laximan Kavlekar on Friday came to meet the South Goa District Collector with a plea for a detailed probe into the firing incident. He demanded that the police should check the fire arms in and around the area where the firing incident took place. “We are shocked to note that the Cuncolim police has so far failed to nab the culprits involved in the firing incident. I have come to tell the District Collector that the culprits involved in the incident are still at large,” Kavlekar said, while disclosing plans to call on Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar on the issue.
He demanded that the Cuncolim police should check all the licensed fire arms in the village and its vicinity to track the accused in the case.
Babu Lambor was injured when he along with his relatives had on Saturday night gone out for crab fishing in the jungles of Paddi when an unknown person fired at him.
Sources at the Cuncolim police station said PI Ram Asare is investigating the case and has asked his sub ordinate to call the license holders for verification.
