Complaints over Vaddi ground

The well furbished Vaddi football ground was also the highlight of Sunday’s Beanulim gram sabha as a member from the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) raised the issue of non-availability of the field for football practice among children. A member of the GFDC, which in the past was made available for training children, complained that the ground that is now owned by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) is not being made available for training programmes.
Benaulim MLA Caitu D’Silva, who was also attending the meeting, said, “The ground belongs to SAG which was used for training during the Lusofonia Games. We can’t take back the ground now; it has professional working conditions.” He added that while the SAG had in fact made arrangements at another location with buses to transport the children, there weren’t many takers.
Benaulim’s other football ground at Dando is open for the public to use though it is still in the mutation procedure. The MLA has however promised to develop the Dando ground for the locals.
