Compost ready, sale after GSPCB nod

Tonnes of compost produced at the Sonsodo waste treatment plant over the last two years are lying unutilised till date. Fomento Green cannot exploit the compost commercially for want of the consent to operate the plant from the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
Sources said that the GSPCB has not yet granted the consent to operate in the absence of a landfill site at Sonsodo. Says Fomento Green CEO Sridhar Kamat, “We have tested the compost produced in the plant and are happy to note that it is of a high quality.
However, the company will market the compost for commercial use only after the GSPCB grants the consent to operate the plant at the site.”
