Barring the head clerk, all the employees are on a pen down strike since last week in protest against the non-payment of their salaries by the government for the last four months. Employees said they will continue their strike till the government works out a solution. The employees lashed out at the authorities for turning a blind eye to the inordinate delay in the payment of salaries.
“How are we to survive if our payments are not release on time? Some of us have taken loans to sustain ourselves, but this cannot continue without a permanent solution”, remarked a woman employee.
While the delay the salary payments of the comunidade staff not something new, even after their plight was taken up by the Goa State Human Rights Organisation, the employees have now demanded that they be absorbed in other government departments if their services are required in the administrator’s office.
